Thanks to everyone who entered our competition to name a racehorse. We had a magnificent entry of 120 - although it has to be admitted that we got nowhere near the 3,000 or so suggestions that Joseph O'Brien received for a similar competition recently!

The horse in question (pictured above) is a late maturing flat horse (a bay gelding) by BERTOLINI (his sire) out of MONICA GELLER (his dam). He was born on 12th May, 2012 & his stable name is 'PUG'. After much deliberation our favourite suggestions were as follows:

In 3rd place we liked FRIENDS TOGETHER chosen by Phil Winstanley. The runner-up was NICKY NOOK sent in by Derek Bevan, but the winner is BERTILATETHANNEVER chosen by Paul Mann from Fulwood near Preston.

The prize for Paul, his wife Gemma & their daughter Charlotte is a VIP day out at the races when 'Pug' is running. This will include three owners' badges, the use of the exclusive facilities which each racecourse affords to owners, a meal & drinks plus the chance to go into the Parade Ring before the race & meet the jockey. And if they are lucky the opportunity to go into the Winners' Enclosure afterwards if he finishes in the first four.

BERTILATETHANNEVER will be going for a racecourse gallop in a couple of weeks time with a view to him making his racecourse debut in early March. Thanks to everyone who took part & we will keep you informed of his progress in the NEWS section of our website.
