Mansfield won the 'Lucky Last' at Redcar yesterday - a 6 furlong Amateur Riders' Handicap at odds of 7/1. Ridden with great confidence by leading lady rider Joanna Mason, the 6 year old well bred son of Exceed And Excel, tracked the leaders until taking up the running 2 furlongs out. He saw off the late challenges of Supaulette & Steelriver winning by three quarters of a length & the same.

Mansfield Redcar 28 May 2019

Tony Ball, Paul Bushell & John Ball with Stella receiving the trophy at Redcar

Mansfield has been a model of consistency throughout the Winter at Wolverhampton on the all-weather track but being a hold up horse he has repeatedly been stopped in his run on that tight track enjoying no luck at all. So much so that one racing weekly felt he was 'surely the unluckiest horse in training' during the AW season.

Now that he is back on grass we are hopeful of more success from his current handicap mark. Next stop in 7 days time on 5th June is a 6 furlong Apprentice Handicap at Nottingham. Although he will have to carry a 5lb penalty for yesterday's win, the Nottingham contest is for horses rated a lot lower & a follow up is very much on the cards.

Oh by the way - there are two x 25% shares for sale in Mansfield. Give us a call for further details on how to get involved!
