MELABI SHORT HEADED AT BEVERLEY
Melabi almost gave Stella Barclay her first winner as a trainer when Melabi was beaten a short head by the Joe Fanning ridden Claramara (trained by Mark Johnston) at Beverley on Friday night. Ridden by our former apprentice Callum Rodriguez, the gelded son of Oasis dream was held up towards the rear on the inside rail for much of the mile & a half journey before making good headway in the final quarter of a mile. Twice the horse was denied a run up the far rail & had to be switched out towards the centre of the track to get a run. The Racing Post noted that he made 'headway over 1f out, angled left to outer entering final furlong, challenged strongly final 50 yards, kept on, just failed.'

Starting at the rewarding odds of 20/1, Melabi is likely to try to go one better over the same trip at Leicester on Thursday 19th July.
